The second method is known as the Follicular Unit Extraction method and involves a special medical device that can remove each individual hair follicle without having to cut out part of the scalp. The wound from this method is very slight, like a pin prick, and usually completely heals up within a few days. The two benefits to FUE are the smaller or none existent scarring and the fact that hair can actually be removed from several areas of the body instead of just the head.
